Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of circulating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.

Their legal filing contends that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his lycée.

The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
