“That was unfortunate. That was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was entirely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the incorrect finger,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
